ADDING AND OR CHANGING KEYBOARD LAYOUT  -PREFERRED LANGUAGES

May 08, 2012
[MY COMPUTER TUTORIALS]

As I just started my volunteering job, if you'll happen to be residing in a fabulously free Country with two existing languages; namely French and English, this story might sometimes occur.

I helped an older adult with his keyboard language problem,( with a new computer that he bought online). Because the language that was programmed with its keyboard, was solely French, so he couldn't use his English language for a long time. It only existed the keys in the French command. It happens sometimes, when you take over someone's old computer.

  • For Windows 7, 8, 8.1 OS : Go Control Panel [by view category];  then find and select Regional and Language option, then on the command view; select  Keyboard and Language, From there, You can change the settings, for English or add other languages.  Press Add button, then Select your native language [if applicable] Click on Apply /Save button  for the new Language to be added, Restart the computer for the new settings to apply.

Control Panel :

1.)

Start Menu

  • And or To enable the English Keyboard, Locate the Clock, Language, Region tab  through the Control Panel,  then Keyboard and Languages command button, click on add a language or remove/move down, options; whatever you prefer.  The first one on the list  is (English US.),  actually it is the default for most computers, Check/choose the box that says Enable. Or scroll down and select English United States-US. Click on Apply then Okay button. The dialogue box will close automatically. Exit the Control Panel Window.
